When you think of the word “resources,” what does that bring to mind? I love asking this question because there are so many different answers.

So, what did you think about? Money? A house? Office space or a storefront? We often think of resources as physical or quantifiable, but today I want to focus on the less tangible (but equally important) assets that are available to us.

In our roles as leaders and entrepreneurs, there are a number of valuable resources. Things like:

  • The support of our team
  • Other leaders and entrepreneurs to talk to
  • Mentors and/or mentees
  • Developed and supportive friendships
  • Family

These resources are incredibly important to continued success in our personal and professional lives. When we need someone to help us get out of our own head, to brainstorm with, or to commiserate when things get tough, having a support system is vital.

Now, take a few minutes and ask yourself this question: who do you check in with and who checks in with you?

So many leaders and entrepreneurs who have dedicated their lives to their nonprofits, communities, or businesses have a difficult time answering that question. But it doesn’t need to be that way. We may be pioneers, but there’s no requirement that we need to do everything on our own. We can be each other’s resources.

Don’t go it alone. If you’d like to continue this conversation, contact us to set up a time to talk!
