You may have seen the phrase “the human side of leadership” mentioned on the B.O.S.S. website or referenced in one of our blog posts. But what does it really mean?
As leaders, we bring our whole selves to our positions, and that includes all of our past experiences. In many ways, that’s a benefit. Years of experience (in both work and life) means years of skills that we can call on when needed. However, it can also mean bringing our anxiety, self-worth challenges, or fears to our workplace.
Our mission at B.O.S.S. Consulting is to help leaders create the systems they need to ensure their success as well as the success of their organizations. We work with those in leadership roles to discover the best versions of themselves because the mindset, perceptions, and resiliency of leaders permeate through the entire culture of their organizations.
So what’s the human side of leadership? It’s focusing on the whole person so that they have the best chance to thrive – personally AND professionally. Once a leader takes the step to invest in themselves, to build new skills, and to work on their past challenges, their organization will also reap the benefits. A thinking, resilient leader is the gold standard that we should all aspire to.
